The Colts will be down a defensive free agent acquisition to begin the 2026 season.

Cam Taylor-Britt has been handed a one-game suspension to start the year after violating the NFL’s personal conduct policy.

Taylor-Britt, 26, agreed to a plea deal in January after a September 2025 reckless driving arrest in Cincinnati while he was a member of the Bengals.

The cornerback was arrested for driving without a license after allegedly doing a burnout with his vehicle near Paycor Stadium, home of the Bengals.

ESPN reported that an attorney representing Taylor-Britt was angling for the Colts defensive back to serve a sentence of community service. A judge from Hamilton County, however, sentenced him to five days in jail instead.

In Ohio, reckless driving is a misdemeanor and punishable by up to 30 days in jail.

Taylor-Britt signed a one-year deal worth $1.4 million with the Colts in March, reuniting him with Lou Anarumo, who was previously the Bengals’ defensive coordinator from 2019 to 2024, before he took the same role with the Colts.

In four seasons with the Bengals, Taylor-Britt — who was selected No. 60 overall in the 2022 draft out of Nebraska — recorded seven interceptions, returning two for touchdowns, while starting in 40 of his 47 appearances.

Taylor-Britt also defended 38 passes across four seasons, with a season-high 16 in 2024, a year in which he also recorded a personal-best 77 tackles.

The Montgomery, Ala., native also recorded an interception in the Bengals’ win over the Bills during the divisional round of the playoffs following the 2022 regular season. Cincinnati eventually fell to the Chiefs in the AFC Championship game.
