One dead, multiple injured in mass shooting during Juneteenth celebration at South Carolina VFW facility

One person was killed and multiple others were injured in a mass shooting during a Juneteenth celebration at a VFW in South Carolina Saturday night, according to officials.

The Anderson County Sheriff’s Office led a massive police response at the Veterans of Foreign Wars facility, outside of Greenville, where bullets flew Saturday before 11 p.m., WSPA reported.

The VFW 1790 was hosting a Juneteenth celebration at the time of the shooting, Anderson County Sheriff’s deputies told the outlet.

The sole victim was pronounced dead at Greenville Memorial, according to the sheriff’s office.

Eight other victims were taken to nearby hospitals Anderson and Greenville.

An investigation is ongoing, the report stated.

There is currently no available information on the victims or the motive of the shooter.
