Iranians chanting, “Death to America!” and waving flags with anti-American slogans have taken to the streets of the capital after US strikes on the country’s nuclear sites Saturday.
Iran’s president, Masoud Pezeshkian, was pictured with students at an anti-US rally Sunday in Tehran, according to the Iranian government-affiliated Mehr news agency.
Pro-government supporters holding banners reading, “Down with the USA” and, “We are ready for the big battle” were seen during the protests.
Protesters also chanted, “Death to America!” according to video shared on Telegram by the Iranian Students’ News Agency (ISNA).
Other protesters held up portraits of the country’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, who has not spoken publicly since the strikes on three Iranian nuclear facilities.
Thousands of people reportedly gathered in Tehran’s central Enghelab Square for the anti-US protests, according to the pro-government Press TV in the country.
Nearly a dozen people were injured during the US attacks on three nuclear sites, with four hospitalized, Iran’s Red Crescent Society said in a statement.

“Fortunately, none of the people admitted to the clinics had radioactive contamination,” Iranian Ministry of Health spokesman Hossein Kermanpour said.
Reza Pahlavi, the crown prince of Iran and a leading opposition figure outside the country, said in a statement Sunday that the strikes were the start of the “fall of the Islamic Republic.
“Let us not worry about the future after the fall of the Islamic Republic,” he said. “Iran will not suffer from civil war and instability. We have a plan for Iran’s future and its prosperity.
“We are ready for the first hundred days after the fall, the transition period, and the establishment of a national and democratic government, for the Iranian people and by the Iranian people.”
