He’s trying to Trump the pied-à-terre.

President Trump on Tuesday blasted New York’s new pied-à-terre tax on luxury second homes as “pure Amateur Hour” that will “RUIN” the Big Apple.

Trump, in a Truth Social screed, said he’d direct the federal government to look into the tax before calamity strikes his home town.

“I am looking to see if the Federal Government has any legal right to avert this disaster, before it is too late, for the millions of people who cherish New York and want to see it thrive, as opposed to becoming a filthy, crime ridden, decrepit place of mockery and scorn,” he wrote.

“This dangerous political ‘experiment’ in New York will destroy what was once a great City and State. The post came a day after a Staten Island judge temporarily halted Mayor Zohran Mamdani’s rollout of the surcharge over a lawsuit claiming the city was bungling it and unfairly burdening homeowners.

Mamdani’s administration filed an appeal of the temporary restraining order, meaning the tax remains in effect pending a hearing with a higher court.

The tax, approved by state lawmakers and Gov. Kathy Hochul, takes aim at owners of luxury second homes in New York City worth $5 million or more, or $1 million if a co-op or condo.
