ESPN analyst Matt Miller hit with criminal charge over horror car crash that led to arm amputation

ESPN NFL draft analyst Matt Miller has been hit with a misdemeanor for his alleged role in the horrific car crash that resulted in the amputation of his arm.

Court records viewed by the California Post show Miller was formally charged on Tuesday with one count of failure to drive on right half of roadway when roadway was of sufficient width, resulting in an accident.

A copy of Miller’s citation states the 43-year-old will have to appear in a Missouri court room on Sept. 21 to face the charge, and a failure to show up could result in the suspension of his driver’s license or even a warrant for his arrest.

The accident occurred at around 3:50 p.m. on June 17 in Jasper County.

While driving a 2023 Ford Bronco, Miller, as seen in dashcam video obtained by The Post, drifted from his lane into oncoming traffic and collided with a truck.

The impact was so violent, Miller was ejected from his seat. He ended up sustaining multiple significant injuries, including a broken femur, kneecap and ribs. He also had to have his left arm amputated.

Missouri State Highway Patrol officials pinned the cause of the accident on Miller, writing the probable contributing circumstance was his “improper lane usage/change.”

Authorities stated it was “unknown” whether or not alcohol or marijuana use was involved.

To make matters worse for Miller, in the days following the incident, several X users came forward accused him of withholding prize money and/or charitable payments from them. The Missouri Attorney General’s Office later opened an investigation into the claims.

Miller has released several statements in wake of the crash, and in his most recent one on July 10, he said he was “stepping away indefinitely” from his role at ESPN “to best focus on my healing and recovery.”
