The risk and upside of the Giants’ surprisingly even cornerback competition

A team can never have too many, and thinking there are enough can be fraught with peril.

Most often, feeling secure and confident about being well-stocked at cornerback is wishful thinking.

The Giants have a different situation. They have a bunch of interesting players at the position, and there is a chance the assembled talent will provide quality as well as quantity. There is plenty of competition, and some of it is fairly high-level. That is good.

What is less than good is this: They might not have a bona fide No. 1 cornerback, and the evenness of the competition might indicate that no one individual is excelling. That would be bad.
