The lack of news on Tuesday was actually a bit of news in and of itself.

It served as a sort of soft deadline for the Knicks and Miles McBride on a potential contract extension.

That is because a player who signs a veteran extension after Aug. 11 can’t be traded for six months if their new deal exceeds specific thresholds — if it includes a first-year raise of 20 percent or more, a subsequent annual raise over 5 percent or runs for a total length of four or more years.

McBride and the Knicks, though, did not agree to any extension ahead of that deadline, The Post’s Stefan Bondy reported.
