American sprinter Marvin Bracy-Williams was arrested earlier in August on a DUI charge in Florida, adding to what’s been a troubling year for the former world championship silver medalist.
According to court documents viewed by The Post, Bracy-Williams, 32, was arrested on Aug. 3 in Orlando. Police said they arrived at the scene while a tow truck was pulling his vehicle out of a ditch, per TMZ.
The tow truck driver informed officers that Bracy-Williams was allegedly passed out behind the wheel when he arrived, according to the documents.
The car was allegedly still running and in gear at the time.
The driver contacted his employer and requested law enforcement assistance because he believed Bracy-Williams was intoxicated at the time.
Police said Bracy-Williams smelled like alcohol and performed poorly on the field sobriety tests before officers decided to arrest him.
He was then booked in Orange County.
This also arrives at a worrying time for Bracy-Williams, who has faced multiple suspensions in less than a year.
This past November, the United States Anti-Doping Agency announced that Bracy-Williams had been given a three-year, nine-month ban for anti-doping violations, backdated to begin in February 2024.
His anti-doping violations were highlighted by testosterone use, attempted tampering and whereabouts violations.
While suspended in January, Bracy-Williams joined the Enhanced Games, which permitted steroid usage and other performance-enhancing substances.
The next month, a man named Paul Askew was federally indicted for supplying Bracy-Williams with drugs.
Bracy-Williams went on to compete in the Enhanced Games in May, finishing third in the 100-meter sprint at the inaugural event in Las Vegas.
In June, he was sanctioned for his third anti-doping violation, which resulted in a 12-year ban by the USADA.
On June 5, he notified the USADA of his intent to retire.
The USADA noted in its statement that “Bracy-Williams’s period of ineligibility will continue indefinitely until he returns from retirement and serves the remainder of his sanctions. In addition, Bracy-Williams has been disqualified from any competitive results on and after April 1, 2026, including forfeiture of any medals, points, and prizes.”
Prior to his troubles, Bracy-Williams briefly played college football at Florida State, later enjoying brief NFL stints with the Colts in 2017 and Seahawks in 2018. In both instances, he was cut before the regular season began.
He later played for the Orlando Apollos of the Alliance of American Football in 2019, suffering a shoulder injury in the inaugural game on Feb. 9 before getting placed on injured reserve.
In track, he was a semifinalist in the 100-meter sprint at the 2016 Olympics. He won silver in the 100 meters and the 4×100 relay for Team USA at the 2022 World Athletics Championships.
