Madison Keys’ 2025 Grand Slam season started in glory — but it ended in heartbreak.
Keys was dumped out of the first round of the US Open, getting shocked by Mexico’s Renata Zarazua 6-7, 7-6, 7-5.
The sixth-seeded Keys, who won the Australian Open in January, won the first set in a dramatic 22-point tiebreak. However, Zarazua took the second in a tiebreak herself and then broke Keys at 6-5 of the third set to clinch the shocking victory.

Keys made an astounding 89 unforced errors against 46 winners.
Zarazua will face Diane Parry in the second round.
