Angel Reese ruled out of Wednesday's Sky-Dream game with leg injury, days before WNBA All-Star Game

The Chicago Sky have ruled out Angel Reese and Ariel Atkins for Wednesday’s game against the Atlanta Dream with leg injuries.

The nature of Reese’s injury wasn’t initially clear. The Sky simply listed both injuries with a “leg” designation. It’s also not clear when or how she sustained it.

Atkins sustained her leg injury in the first half of Monday’s loss to the Minnesota Lynx. She left the game and did not return after halftime. Reese played 37 minutes in that game and tallied 22 points and 10 rebounds.

News of Reese’s injury dropped days before she’s scheduled to play in the WNBA All-Star Game. Reese is slated to suit up for Napheesa Collier’s Team Collier against Caitlin Clark’s Team Clark on Saturday.

It’s not clear how long Reese will be sidelined or if the injury puts her status for the All-Star Game at risk.

Reese, 23, was selected to her second All-Star team in her second WNBA season. The league’s leading rebounder, Reese is averaging 14 points, 12.6 rebounds, 3.8 assists and 1.6 steals per game. She’s improved from her rookie-year shooting struggles (39.1% from the field) with a 44.6% success rate in 2025.

A two-time All-Star with the Washington Mystics, Atkins has started each of Chicago’s 21 games this season in her first year with the Sky. She’s averaging 13.9 points, 3.5 assists, 3.1 rebounds and 1.9 steals while shooting 42.5% from the field and 35.4% on 3.8 3-point attempts per game.

A Sky team that finished 13-27 last season continues to struggle in 2025 amid a 7-14 start.
