The FIBA Women’s Basketball World Cup opens Friday with the United States set to defend its title with arguably the most famous crop of young stars in the sport’s history.

Caitlin Clark, Angel Reese and Paige Bueckers are among a whopping 51 WNBA players in Berlin representing their countries.

The 17-day break is a welcome pause in the WNBA schedule, offering a mental and physical reset to those not in Germany and a potential palate cleanser for everyone from the off-court discourse that’s threatened to overwhelm the league.

The WNBA arguably has never been better as its 30th season draws to a close.
