Emergency crews rushed to a ritzy San Francisco golf course Friday over a hazmat incident that left one person hospitalized.

The SF Fire Department responded to the Presidio Golf & Concordia Club for an incident involving muriatic acid and chlorine, the department said.

Randy Lim, the general manager at the Presidio Golf and Concordia Club, said the man that inhaled the mixture was a visitor in his 20s. He said he didn’t think it was too serious because the young man was able to transport himself to a local hospital on his own.

Captain Mariano Elias of the San Francisco Fire Department also confirmed that the man transported himself and that the incident was considered a minor inhalation.

“Our HazMat units and fire companies are working to assess the situation, identify any potential hazards, and ensure the safety of the public and our first responders,” the SFPD said.

Elias said that they hear of the mixture around 12:30 pm this afternoon. He said that the solution was coming out of a hot tub found at the club.

“They mixed 30 gallons of muriatic acid with chlorine and it became a toxic vapor,” Elias said.

Elias added that the department of Public Health got involved alongside emergency crews and together they were able to dispose of the mixture in four and a half hours.

“The mixture has been cleared,” Elias said.
