My favorite Met? Glad you asked.
Though my culinary extravagances occasionally include overpaying for Alaskan king crab, I’m still a man of simple tastes.
I prefer my major league catchers to be meat-and-potatoes guys — those who can take a punch; know how to block pitches in the dirt; communicate well with pitchers; keep a close eye on baserunners and other here-and-now circumstances; have an accurate, quick-release throwing arm; hit over .220; don’t strike out a lot swinging for home runs; with some clutch hits and smart, hustling base-running thrown in.
That’s all.
