This is the dramatic moment a passenger was dragged for 50 metres between a moving train and platform before railway police and fellow travellers rushed to his rescue.
The commuter was boarding the Sabarmati Express at Agra Cantt Railway Station in Agra, Uttar Pradesh, India, when his foot became trapped between the train and platform.
The man in a blue button-down shirt attempted to board the arriving train at around 9:35 p.m. local time on September 8.
However, he lost his footing and had one foot slip onto the ground.
CCTV footage shows the train travelling along the platform, dragging the helpless passenger towards the tracks as he struggles to free himself.
Moments later, members of the Government Railway Police’s Quick Response Team stationed nearby and fellow passengers ran towards him.
The rescuers can be seen grabbing hold of the passenger in a desperate attempt to pull him away from the gap.

They eventually managed to drag him to safety.
GRP inspector Sandeep Tomar said the passenger’s life was saved by the alertness and courage of the police personnel and other passengers who immediately responded to the incident.
The passenger reportedly did not sustain any injuries from what happened.
India’s frequent train accidents are largely attributed to ageing infrastructure, including outdated tracks and signalling systems.
The railway network’s overcrowding, which often operates beyond its designed capacity, puts additional strain on equipment and safety measures. Human error, such as misreading signals or fatigue-related mistakes, also plays a significant role in many of these accidents.
