NASHVILLE, Tenn. — This was with 1:05 left in the third quarter, just after Titans punter Tommy Townsend had made his fifth appearance of the day and the home fans had seen enough. Suddenly, the aisles of Nissan Stadium were filled with baby blue jerseys marching toward the exits.
Now, you could hear those wearing green, mostly clustered behind the visiting bench explode, “J-E-T-S, Jets, Jets, Jets” rang out and that must have been the sweetest sound in Music City for Aaron Glenn and the Jets.
It’s been eight years since a game like this. Eight years since the Jets dominated an opening opponent like they dominated Robert Saleh’s Titans on Sunday. The final score was 23-10, but anyone who watched it would tell you it felt more like 40-3.
This was reminiscent of Sam Darnold’s Jets debut in 2018 in Detroit when the Jets decimated the Lions 48-17 and Jets fans took over Motor City.
