A $167 million Kentucky Powerball winner was arrested after he was found boozed up and asleep in a sports car — the fifth time he’s been cuffed since taking home the big prize, according to reports.
James Farthing was cuffed after a caller reported seeing a white Ford Mustang stopped in the middle of an intersection just before 3 a.m. in Georgetown on Sunday, Lex18 reported.
The caller told dispatchers that the vehicle later drove into a Walmart lot to park, the outlet reported.
Deputies arrived at the megastore parking lot to find Farthing asleep and alone in the running Mustang — and had to repeatedly knock on the window to wake him from a stupor, an arrest citation obtained by the publication revealed.
The jackpot winner from rural Kentucky allegedly showed several signs of impairment, including smelling of alcohol and marijuana, bloodshot and watery eyes, slurred speech, and difficulty maintaining balance, the arresting officer reported.
Farthing reportedly told deputies that a woman drove him to the parking lot and left him there, but surveillance footage showed no one exited the Mustang after it pulled in.
He was cuffed on alcohol intoxication charges and booked into the Scott County Detention Center.
This is the fifth set of criminal charges Farthing is facing since winning the state’s largest-ever Powerball prize last year.
In late July, Farthing was hit with domestic violence charges for allegedly strangling a woman at his home in Scott County after a boating trip.
He was also recently charged in a hit-and-run that took place last November after allegedly smashing his Corvette into the back of another car in Lexington and fleeing the scene on foot.
Farthing was also arrested this February and charged with intimidating a participant in the legal process, according to the outlet.
He also faces charges of battery on a law enforcement officer after allegedly kicking a Florida deputy in the head in April, 2025 — just days after his lotto win.
The career criminal clinched the massive prize after buying a $2 Powerball ticket from Clark’s Pump N Shop in Georgetown, splitting his newfound fortune with his mom, Linda Grizzle.
Farthing is slated to be arraigned on public intoxication charges on Tuesday.
