It was a truly moo-ving rescue
Wild video shows a cow being airlifted to safety after getting stranded on a French mountain.
Vahine the bovine got stuck in the mud while grazing in the Pyrenees on Sept. 11 and couldn’t make her way down the steep terrain, which also couldn’t be accessed by car.
So rescuers instead used a helicopter to get to the trapped cow, who was put in a sling and carried away to safety, much to the amusement of onlookers.
“We were very surprised, quite impressed, and above all, we had a lot of questions about how the cow was feeling, why they were transporting her that way, and whether she enjoyed the sensation of flying,” witness Olympe Provest told Storyful.
“We later learned that the cow had gotten stuck in the mud and was too weak to make her way down on her own; since cars can’t drive up there, they had no other choice.”
In 2021, cows injured in the Swiss Alps were airlifted to safety via helicopter.
