A maintenance worker at a Los Angeles senior facility pulled a handgun from a shopping cart and opened fire inside the home for the elderly on Monday.
Darry Arnette Barnes, 60, shot and injured three of his coworkers, and one was listed in critical condition. The other two victims are reportedly stable.
The shooting occurred just before 11 a.m. at the Progressive Home for the Elderly, which is tied to the Progressive Community Missionary Baptist Church.
LAPD Deputy Chief Marc Reina said officers arrived on scene within two minutes.
When they could not immediately find the suspect, the call was upgraded to a possible active shooter, and the home went on lockdown.
Reina said they took Barnes into custody without a fight, and the handgun believed to have been used in the shooting was recovered.
Caregiver Dorothy Mobley told KTLA she was checking in at the front desk when she recognized the custodian.
Mobley said he told co-workers, “I’m tired of this,” then pulled a gun and started shooting.
The video shows him firing from the cart, then from the far side of a counter as someone dives over it.

None of the roughly 100 seniors in the building were shot.
On Wednesday, Barnes was charged with three counts of attempted murder. He is currently being held with a $1 million bail.
