Three pedestrians mowed down as car smashes into California grocery store

Three people were hit Tuesday morning after a car crashed into the entrance of a grocery store in California.

The incident happened at a Food 4 Less on Garvey Avenue in El Monte around 7:30 a.m., according to the Los Angeles County Fire Department.

Witnesses indicated that a few people were struck as a result of the collision, according to the El Monte Police Department.

One person was rushed to a trauma center at a hospital in critical condition.

“That person remains in serious condition,” Lieutenant Aram Choe of the El Monte Police Department told the California Post.

The other two suffered minor to moderate injuries, Choe said.

There isn’t clarity surrounding whether those hit were inside our outside the Food 4 Less at the time.

Footage of the scene showed multiple police vehicles and that the car that crashed was still in the entrance of the store.

Police said that the driver stayed at the location afterwards and was cooperating with investigators.

Choe said police don’t have information yet on “any kind of impairment or intention” regarding the driver.
