A fearless reporter from the conservative outlet The Maine Wire was nearly struck on Thursday while doing his job exposing a taxpayer-funded fraud outside a treatment center that is supposed to rehabilitate drug addicts.

The Maine Wire reporter Joe Sokol was on scene at the Bangor Comprehensive Treatment Center, reporting for the outlet, when a man driving an SUV approached him.

The Maine Wire showed exclusive video of the exchange.

After a brief greeting, the man accused Sokol of invading people’s privacy. Sokol was surprised by the comment.

“I’m invading people’s privacy? By doing a report?” He asked.

“Yeah,” the man replied.

Sokol later asked the man what he could do for him, but the man drove away instead.

Out of nowhere, the driver accelerates onto the grass where Sokol is standing and comes within inches of running him over. Sokol falls to the ground.

Sokol managed to get himself up and read off the man’s license plate.

The Maine Wire next shows another angle of the incident. The car is seen driving on a pathway before making an abrupt turn toward the grass and Sokol.

This further makes the case that this was no accident.

Sokol then confronts the owner of the business, telling her that her patient just tried to run him over.

But instead of calling the police, the woman repeatedly demands that he leave the property.

The Maine Wire released the statement on X in response to the incident, which revealed that Sokol had been at Bangor Comprehensive Treatment Center to ask questions regarding a methadone clinic that had received $25 million in taxpayer funding via Medicaid.

As The Maine Wire notes, this is essentially a taxpayer-funded drug-dealing operation.

The outlet also provided an update on Sokol’s condition and noted that they are cooperating with in their efforts to apprehend the man who almost struck Sokol.
