Heroes, zeros and the full blitz from the Jets’ 23-12 loss to the Bears on Sunday:
Hero
Bears running back Kyle Monangai, who played his college ball at Rutgers, allowed Chicago to control the game as he rushed for 146 yards and two TDs on 30 carries. That contributed to Chicago having 42:45 in time of possession.
Unsung Hero
Bears quarterback Tyson Bagent, who started in place of the injured Caleb Williams, was 25-for-34 passing for 268 yards. It was his first start since 2023, his rookie year.

Zero
Geno Smith, who’d entered the game having played three strong games to open the season, completing 75.5 percent of his passes, was off all game. He finished 8-for-15 for 119 yards and one TD. His inconsistency contributed to the Jets going 0-for-7 on third down.
Key Number
2: That’s how many more first downs the Bears had (34) than the Jets had offensive plays in the game (32). First time that’s happened in the NFL since 2016.
Quote
“Inside that locker room, I want my guys not to think about history, because it’s going to be brought up so much from the outside, people beating us down with history. We just have to circle the wagons and not let any of that come inside our locker room.’’
— Jets head coach Aaron Glenn
