The No. 21-ranked UCLA Bruins upset the No. 13-ranked Oregon Ducks 17-15 on Oregon’s home turf on Saturday, which is one of the biggest wins in UCLA’s recent history.
This makes UCLA 5-0 as it continues to prove that its program deserves to be considered among the country’s elite.
The most famous UCLA football alumnus is NFL legend Troy Aikman. And Aikman was quick to show his alma mater love in the wake of its upset win.
Aikman posted a photo to his Instagram Story of UCLA coach Bob Chesney pumping his fist in celebration moments after the win from Aikman’s TV screen.
The post was simply captioned “5-0,” referencing the Bruins’ record.
This was the lowest-scoring game UCLA’s offense has produced this season. Yet, the Bruins proved that they’re able to win gritty, defensive-first games against a national championship contender like Oregon.
It wasn’t all good news for the Bruins on Saturday. Starting quarterback Nico Iamaleava suffered a leg injury during the second quarter. He returned for one play, was intercepted, then missed the entire second half.
Aikman and the rest of UCLA’s fan base are hoping Iamaleava’s injury isn’t serious and will want to keep an eye on his status.
In the meantime, this program can celebrate a huge road win.
