Brandon Miller agreed to a contract extension on Monday with the Hornets.
Miller’s extension is a five-year, $209 million extension to his rookie contract, according to multiple reports that came minutes before the 6 p.m. deadline.
Had the two sides not agreed to a deal by Monday’s deadline to sign extensions for players from the 2023 NBA Draft class, the soon-to-be 24-year-old would have played this season on a team option and then been a restricted free agent going into next offseason.

Miller had a career season during the 2025-26 campaign, one which saw him average 20.2 points and 4.9 rebounds per game, while also shooting 38.3 percent from 3-point range.
He played a big part in the Hornets’ surprise run to the play-in round before they fell to the Magic.
The strong campaign by Miller was a bounce back from his injury-plagued second season in the league, as he stayed mostly healthy during 2025-26.
Miller underwent surgery in May to address instability in his shoulder that forced him to miss time in November.
He was a full participant in the preseason and is expected to start on Opening Night.
The young star is likely to take on a bigger part of the scoring load for Charlotte after the team traded LaMelo Ball to the Timberwolves during the offseason. Charlotte also made another notable move during the offseason, sending Miles Bridges to the Suns.
The Hornets begin the regular season this week on the road in Brooklyn to face the Nets.
