A Missouri mom allegedly ditched her 4-year-old daughter at a truck stop in the middle of the night — then went to a casino and told cops the girl wasn’t hers, according to investigators.
Kayla Marie Christensen is accused of driving away from Love’s Travel Stop near Neosho with only her two young sons in the car at around 3 a.m. Friday, according to an affidavit cited by lawandcrime.com
She later left the boys alone in her car while she went into a casino in Wyandotte, according to a report from the news radio station KZRG.
Police first responded to a report of the girl alone in the parking of the travel stop and eventually tracked down Christensen, according to the affidavit.
When officers found her and asked about her daughter, Christensen claimed her only kids were the two boys, according to the affidavit.
Police allegedly also found drug paraphernalia, including syringes, in her car.
Both of her sons were not properly strapped into their car seats, cops said.
Christensen was arrested and charged with first-degree child abandonment and two counts of first-degree child endangerment, court records show.
She was also charged with unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia and three counts of failing to restrain a child properly.
