Jacob Misiorowski’s scoreless Game 5 gem in the Brewers’ 4-1 World Series-clinching win over the Rays in St. Petersburg, Fla., ended a little bit earlier than expected.

With the Brewers holding a 4-0 lead on Wednesday night, Milwaukee’s hard-throwing righty, who ended up pitching 5 ²/₃ scoreless innings, was forced to exit the game with what Milwaukee called a “right calf cramp.”

Misiorowski, who was cruising despite striking out just two batters, left the game after 86 pitches. JoJo Romero came in relief and recorded the final out in the sixth inning.

Earlier, Jeff Passan of ESPN speculated that Misiorowski may have suffered a cramp because he saw trainers come out to the mound with a drink for the 24-year-old right-hander.

The Brewers, who hold a 3-1 series lead, are once again on the cusp of winning their first World Series title in franchise history.

They appeared to be about to clinch in Game 4 before suffering a tough 4-3 loss in 12 innings.
