A US Marine died in a training incident in Japan on Tuesday, Marine Corps officials said.
The Marine was killed at Camp Schwab in northern Okinawa, Stars and Stripes reported Wednesday, citing the 3rd Marine Division.
The death is currently under investigation, and the Marine’s name will be withheld until 24 hours after next of kin are notified, the division said.
“We express our deepest condolences to the family and loved ones of our Marine,” officials told the outlet.
The 3rd Marine Division is the Corps’ primary ground fighting force in the Pacific region and is headquartered at Camp Courtney.
