Shedeur Sanders is in line for another starting opportunity.
The Browns (5-3) put starting QB Deshaun Watson in the concussion protocol Wednesday morning after a helmet-to-helmet hit in the team’s 27-6 loss to the rival Steelers on Sunday.
The team said in a statement that Watson was checked on the sidelines after the hit and again Monday morning.

“On Tuesday morning he reported to the medical staff that he begun experiencing concussion symptoms Monday night and was immediately placed in the concussion protocol,” the team said.
Sanders entered the game against Pittsburgh but did not throw a pass.
Watson has played well enough this season in his return from a serious Achilles injury to hold onto the starting job and keep Sanders on the bench.

Now, however, the former Colorado star is poised to be thrown into the lineup with the Browns visiting the Saints this Sunday.
The Browns have maintained they had no interest in trading Sanders as the deadline approaches next week.
This is a developing story. Please check back for updates.
