CNN Republican commentator Scott Jennings keyed in on a bit of irony during the network’s coverage of the Democratic National Convention — namely that Democrats want Americans to believe they can fix inflation, the border, and other issues despite the fact that they have controlled the White House for 12 of the last 16 years and have not done so.
Jennings broached the topic during a panel discussion hosted by CNN anchor Anderson Cooper — and he asked, among other things, why Vice President Kamala Harris was promising to fix things as president that she did not appear to have any interest in fixing while she was vice president.

“She’s in the White House right now,” Jennings said of Harris. “Democrats have controlled the White House for 12 of the last 16 years, and for all of the talk about division and the problems of the country, people are hurting — Democrats have mostly controlled the country.”
“Trump had it for four, but the Obamas and Biden had it for the rest of the time,” he continued. “And somehow, it’s still all Trump’s fault, and somehow, [Harris] hasn’t been at the center of it.”
Jennings concluded by asking why Americans should believe that Harris could solve problems as president that she did not appear to even be working on as vice president.

“So to me, that’s still the glaring hole in this campaign that hasn’t yet been solved at the convention: How do you explain all of the problems that will be solved by the person who is currently in there for the last three-and-a-half years, who is supposed to already be working on solving it?” he asked.
