“It’s kind of funny looking.”
A lighter moment here at the #DNC. Wrapping up an interview here in Chicago, we asked NY Gov @KathyHochul if she’d like to try some deep dish pizza.
She passed.

She gave Chicago a pizza her mind.
New York Gov. Kathy Hochul turned up her nose at the Windy City’s beloved deep-dish Wednesday — claiming she was too much of a “pizza connoisseur” to sample a piece.
Hochul softly shook her head when NY1’s Washington Correspondent Kevin Frey asked her to take a bite live on camera during her trip to Chicago for the Democratic National Convention.
With a look of disgust on her face, Hochul took a few seconds to deliberate before admitting that the slice was “kinda funny looking.”
“I’m not sure what to make of this. Like, why is it so high? I don’t get it,” she continued, jamming her finger along the thick crust.
The pol then blamed her lack of interest in the saucy-style ‘za on how long it takes to cook — saying an hour is much too long to ask for a New Yorker to wait.
“We get hungry. We’re not waiting an hour. We want our pizza done in a New York minute, so I may just pass on this and I may just wait until I get back home for some good old, made-in-a-minute New York pizza,” Hochul said.
Although Frey laughed at Hochul’s refusal to nibble on the slice, he asked her once more time to take just one bite.
But Hochul again shot down the reporter’s request.
“No, I’m not sure I’m going to do that. I have very high standards. I spent five years making pizza in high school,” she said.
“I’m a pizza connoisseur. That’s the size of about three pizzas I would have made.”
Before exiting, Hochul delivered one more gut punch to Chicago-style pizza lovers: “If you want to know about pizzas, talk to me.”
