Shocking video shows a Brooklyn woman being followed into her apartment building near Prospect Park and choked by the creep from behind.
The victim, a 25-year-old woman, entered her building in Prospect Lefferts Gardens around 11 p.m. Thursday when the man snuck up behind her and wrapped his arm around her neck, police said.
As the woman began to scream “Stop!” and “Help!” and fight back, the unidentified attacker told her to “Shut up” before releasing her.
Video of the horrifying encounter obtained by ABC 7 shows the woman walking through the lobby toward the mailboxes as the suspect pushes the button of the elevator before zeroing in on the victim.
Seemingly unaware of the security camera, the man quickly approaches the woman and places his arm around her neck.
The woman can be seen in the clip kicking the man and the two struggle for several seconds before he lets her go.
After he released her, the woman dialed 911. She was not physically hurt in the attack.
Police are searching for the attacker, described as a male with a dark complexion, who fled on foot.
The onslaught has left neighbors in the building, near the intersection of Ocean and Parkside avenues in Brooklyn, on edge as authorities continue to search for the attacker.
“It’s crazy because he was literally like five feet behind her in the picture I saw,” a neighbor who did not want to be identified told ABC 7.
“It makes me think twice about the way I move about the neighborhood, and just in general,” the neighbor added.
Another neighbor, Carlos Vasquez, told the station he bought a doorbell camera after something similar happened to him.
“There have been a lot of weird things happening in this building. I’ve been followed in before myself,” he said.
