The start of the 2024 NFL season got off to a start Worthy of its nationally televised billing.

The Ravens and Chiefs each scored on their opening drives on Thursday night in their Week 1 battle — a 27-20 Chiefs win — at Arrowhead Stadium, including a touchdown for Kansas City rookie Xavier Worthy on the first touch of his NFL career.

Lamar Jackson led the Ravens down the field 70 yards on the game’s opening drive which ended with Derrick Henry running the ball five yards for his first touchdown for Baltimore.

Henry, who signed with the Ravens in March on a two-year, $16 million deal, had five rushing attempts on Baltimore’s first drive of the season.

The Chiefs had an answer for the Ravens touchdown with a score of their own that culminated with the team’s first-round pick in the draft in April.

Kansas City took five plays to go 67 yards on their first drive.

Worthy scored to tie the game off a reverse that allowed him to explode up the field for the 21-yard touchdown run.

He added a second touchdown on a 35-yard reception in the fourth quarter, which proved to be the difference-maker.

Worthy played three years at Texas before he opted to forgo his senior season and enter the draft.

Thursday’s season opener was a rematch of the AFC Championship between the Ravens and Chiefs, which resulted in Kansas City winning and advancing to the Super Bowl en route to its second straight title.

Kansas City, now 1-0, is attempting to be the first NFL team to win three straight Super Bowl titles in league history.

The Chiefs will once again be the center of attention of the football world as well as the pop culture world.

Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce is dating music superstar Taylor Swift and the two garnered plenty of headlines last year as they went public with their relationship last September.

Swift was in attendance for Thursday’s season opener.
