Morning commuters faced 90-minute delays early Tuesday due to an accident and a disabled bus in the Lincoln Tunnel.
The broken-down bus appeared to be stalled out with a missing wheel, PIX11 anchor Dan Mannarino posted on X.
The tunnel also experienced delays in the center tube due to an investigation into a motorcycle crash around 3:50 a.m., PIX11 added.
The motorcyclist was taken to the hospital in critical condition, sources told the outlet.
The crash stalled outbound traffic for hours, ABC7 reported.
The police activity in the center tube was eventually cleared by around 6:15, the Port Authority said.
As of 7:20 Tuesday morning, traffic entering the Lincoln Tunnel was backed up into Hoboken, the city’s Office of Emergency Management warned on X.
“Officially in car 2 hours 20 min & have driven 16 miles,” FOX 5 sports anchor Tina Cervasio shared in a personal update on the slow-moving conditions.
“Hello from my car on the Lincoln Tunnel Helix. I’ve been in park 45 min after crawling from Secaucus. Was too far in to divert,” she wrote shortly after 7.
“Might not make it to work to do my sports hits.”
Commuters avoiding the Lincoln Tunnel overwhelmed other crossings, too, with hour-long delays reported at the Holland Tunnel, the Port Authority explained.
