Jordan Love will reportedly be active for the Green Bay Packers on Sunday for their Week 4 game against the Minnesota Vikings, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

Love has missed the last two games after spraining the MCL in his left knee in Week 1’s loss in Brazil to the the Philadelphia Eagles. He was listed on Friday’s injury report as questionable.

The initial timetable for Love to return was set at 3-6 weeks, but his progress has allowed him to return soon and will reportedly see him wear a knee brace for extra protection.

Packers head coach Matt LaFleur said before Week 2 that they would not clear Love to return until he felt like he could protect himself from re-injuring his knee. “He’s got to be confident enough to go out there and do that,” he said.

Love has practiced in a limited capacity the last two weeks and went through a pregame warmups in Week 3 before being ruled out for the win over the Tennessee Titans. While what he showed the coaching staff was “encouraging,” according to LaFleur, they were going to be careful not rushing him back. On Thursday, LaFleur told reporters Love would be a game-time decision.

Success without Love

The Packers won both games without Love and head into Week 4 with a 2-1 record. Backup quarterback Malik Willis excelled taking on the starting job, throwing for 324 yards with two touchdowns and zero interceptions while completing 73.5% of his passes.

Willis joined the Packers in late August via trade from the Titans. He played two seasons for Tennessee as a backup and an occasional injury-replacement starter after the Titans selected him with a third-round draft pick in 2022 to back up Ryan Tannehill.
