“Saturday Night Live” poked fun at Mayor Adams and his historic legal problems — joking that it all stems from him wanting to turn the Big Apple into a “swag-tropolis.”
Devon Walker portrayed the embattled mayor on the season 50 premiere, scooting in on a chair as Michael Che mentioned Adams’ federal bribery and corruption charges during the weekend update segment.
“Honestly, I’m feeling relieved,” Walker’s Adams said when asked about his standing as the first-ever New York mayor indicted on charges.
“Really?” Che asked — to which the pretend mayor admitted, “No!”
Stating he is “an innocent man,” Walker’s Adams said: “I mean look at me, my fingers are steepled, my smile is optimistic, and my vocabulary is officious…
“Do I look guilty to you, Michael?” he asked — to which Che replied, “I mean, yeah, kinda.”
The skit then poked fun at the mayor’s fondness for socializing.
“I’ve spent every single day with the working people of this city — the dancers, the bottle girls, Fat Joe. And they all say the same thing: ‘Thank you for bringing swagger back to the city! What was once a swag-less dump is now a swag-tropolis,’ … with significantly more crime than before,” he joked.
“I got crime off of the streets and on to the sidewalk and the subway.”
Told that the mayor is charged with doing “favors for the Turkish government in exchange for expensive trips,” Walker’s Adams asked with mock seriousness: “So you want your mayor in coach, huh?… New York City needs me in first class.”

Asked “why Turkey,” he asked: “Have you ever had a Turkish delight? It’s a briefcase with $100,000 in it,” pretending to eat it up.
He then cut to a pretend ad for Turkish Airlines, saying, “Turkish Airlines, cos you are not safe on the subway.”
The pretend Adams then ended the segment with a shout-out to the other high-profile person hit with charges, accused sex-trafficker Sean Combs — shouting out, “Hey, free Diddy!”
