Ohio vs. Western Michigan prediction: Odds, picks, best bet for Tuesday night ‘MACtion’

Waldo Stadium in beautiful Kalamazoo will be the venue for one of the biggest “MACtion” games of the season on Tuesday night.

Western Michigan and Ohio, two of four teams tied for first in the MAC at 4-1, will do battle on ESPN, with the Broncos sitting as a 1.5-point favorite in front of their home fans.

The winner of this game will be in the driver’s seat for one of the spots in the MAC Championship Game on Dec. 6 at Ford Field in Detroit, while the loser will essentially be eliminated from contention.

Ohio vs. Western Michigan odds, prediction

Ohio comes into Tuesday night on a roll.

The Bobcats are on a three-game winning streak and handed Miami (Ohio) its first conference defeat of the season in Week 11, vaulting them to the top of the conference.

That win also made Ohio bowl eligible for the fourth straight season and the 14th time in the last 17 years.

Nobody is going to claim that Ohio is one of the best programs in the Group of 5, but the Bobcats are certainly one of the most consistent.

Western Michigan has been less predictable over the past decade, but the Broncos have been quietly impressive in 2025.

Betting on College Football?

Western Michigan’s best performance may have been in a 33-30 loss against North Texas, one of the best teams in the Group of 5 and a potential College Football Playoff invitee, but there are other contenders out there.

The Broncos upset Toledo, 14-13, held Ball State scoreless in a 42-0 victory, and held off Central Michigan, 24-21, in what was essentially an elimination game last week.

The key to Western Michigan’s modest success has been a strong defense that ranks 17th in points allowed per game, 12th in yards allowed and 18th in yards per play conceded.

Skeptics will say those numbers are inflated because Western Michigan plays against a lot of bad teams, but it’s not like Ohio is an SEC blueblood.

The Bobcats are not bad on either side of the ball, but they’re not particularly good, either.

They should have their hands full with the Broncos on Tuesday night, especially in weather conditions that should play into the defense’s hands.
