BALTIMORE — The Jets leading receiver Sunday was not on the team a month ago.

John Metchie III had six catches for 65 yards and scored the lone Jets touchdown against the Ravens on Sunday.

They acquired him in a trade with the Eagles on Oct. 29, shipping Michael Carter II to Philadelphia for Metchie and a late-round draft pick swap.

Metchie has acclimated himself quickly and now has scored touchdowns in consecutive weeks.

Searching for bright spots in this lost Jets season?

Metchie looks like one.

“There’s a reason why he’s here,” coach Aaron Glenn said. “We didn’t go and get that player just to be part of a deal or anything like that. We got that player because we felt like he could help us. Obviously, he’s been doing that. He’s stepped right in and been vocal as a leader for us very quickly.

“That player is going to be a good player for us, and we’ve got to continue to find ways to get him the ball. I’m glad that we have him.”

Metchie scored against a Cover Zero blitz by the Ravens, just as he did last week against the Patriots.

“We kind of just got what we wanted and took advantage of that look,” Metchie said.

Metchie has become the top Jets receiver with Garrett Wilson sidelined by a knee injury.

Adonai Mitchell also joined the team at the trade deadline, forming a 1-2 combination for the Jets offense.

“More and more comfortable,” Metchie said. “It’s just like we get more and more reps. We get to be around each other more. We get to have a feel for each other. We get to learn the book better. It’s been a couple of weeks for me and AD being here, but that’s not an excuse. We’re professionals. We have to pick it up.”

Glenn was not happy after the Ravens first touchdown.

The Ravens had brought in subs on offense, and the Jets sent in subs to match, but the officials did not stop the Ravens from snapping the ball, so the play started while Jets players were still lining up.

Derrick Henry scored a two-yard touchdown.

Afterward, Glenn waved his arms and gave the officials an earful.

“I just thought when they subbed that you have to give us time to sub,” Glenn said. “Our guys were running on the field, and we didn’t have time to sub. It is what it is.”
