Antonio Pierce addresses Davante Adams trade drama

Antonio Pierce is trying to keep his Davante Adams cards close to the vest.

There have been a series of dramatic events involving the Raiders’ head coach and star wideout over the past week-and-a-half, culminating in Pierce “liking” a post on Instagram indicating Adams could be traded followed by Adams reportedly requesting out of Las Vegas.

Pierce spoke to reporters on Wednesday, and was asked whether it was “accidental” that he liked the post on Instagram.

He sidestepped the question.

“I’m just focused on Denver,” he said, with his team set to visit the Broncos on Sunday.

Asked whether he has communicated at all with Adams and where the relationship stands now, Pierce said, “Me and Davante talk often.”

Responding to a follow-up about whether they’ve talked since the social media imbroglio, Pierce said, “I’m gonna leave that between me and Davante.”

Pierce said he was not concerned about this situation being a distraction for the Raiders.

Earlier Wednesday, ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported that two teams were atop Adams’ wish list as trade destinations: the Saints and Jets.

The common thread of those two teams? Adams has preexisting chemistry with their quarterbacks, Derek Carr and Aaron Rodgers, whom he played with on the Raiders and Packers, respectively; he also played with Carr in college at Fresno State.

Other reports have mentioned the Cowboys and Steelers as potential new teams for Adams.

In three games this season, Adams has 18 catches for 209 yards and one touchdown.

He missed last Sunday’s game against the Browns with a hamstring injury.

In an interview on FanDuel TV’s “Up & Adams” on Tuesday, the wideout did not seem very concerned that the issue would keep him out for a big length of time.
