After both National League Division Series were knotted up at one game apiece on Sunday, the two AL wild-card teams are looking for road wins in Game 2 to head back home for Game 3 with home-field advantage. First up, the Detroit Tigers send AL Cy Young favorite Tarik Skubal to the hill in Cleveland against the Guardians. The 27-year-old went six innings and struck out six Astros on his way to a Game 1 wild-card win in Houston in his first start of the postseason. The Guardians got a 7-0 win in Game 1, behind a three-run homer from Lane Thomas and 4 1/3 innings of no-hit ball from their bullpen.
In the nightcap, the New York Yankees look to take a 2-0 lead over the Kansas City Royals in The Bronx. Alex Verdugo was the Game 1 star for the Bombers with a go-ahead RBI single in the seventh inning and a highlight-reel catch to save a run to help the Yankees to a 6-5 win. Cole Ragans gets the ball Monday night for the Royals against Carlos Rodón for the Yankees.
