12-year-old girl fatally stabbed her dad hours after trying to run away: cops

A 12-year-old girl has confessed to stabbing to death her father hours after trying to run away, according to cops.

The unidentified confessed to killing dad James Waldie, 56, during a “disagreement” at their North Las Vegas apartment Friday night, the Las Vegas Review-Journal reported.

She had earlier attempted to run away — and was dropped off back home by cops just hours before the slaying, according to authorities.

“No evidence was found indicating significant physical harm to the girl prior to the incident,” police said.

Police had responded to the apartment several times before, including when she attempted to run away a previous time, on Dec. 7, according to Fox 6 Vegas.

She was arrested about a week after that for allegedly hitting and injuring him in an earlier fight, police said.

Another relative called police Friday to report the dad’s death. The 12-year-old girl initially claimed an intruder killed her father, but eventually confessed to the stabbing, police said.
