49ers WR Brandon Aiyuk is destroying his NFL career — and there’s no end in sight

Brandon Aiyuk, it’s time to put your phone down, buddy.

Your act has grown stale, if not cringey.

Whatever salient message you’ve tried to deliver through a series of social media posts has been lost in the creepiness of it all.

That includes Tuesday’s post in which you insist you will not take the necessary steps to seek reinstatement from the 49ers. That means you will continue to remain in career limbo for reasons only you can explain.

It’s the latest in a series of bad decisions that have cost you millions of dollars, alienated an entire organization, turned off a 49ers fanbase that once had your back, and given the entire NFL ample reason to slam the door shut in your face.

That includes the Commanders, who once appeared interested in giving you a second chance, and their quarterback, Jayden Daniels, who you humiliated in a social media video better suited for a middle school playground than a public forum.

Daniels, your former college teammate and close friend, is probably the only quarterback in the NFL still willing to accept you into his huddle.

Or was, anyway.

Fat chance that happens now.

In the blink of an eye, you callously hung Daniels out to dry. Whatever lifeboat he and the Commanders were willing to give you got snatched right back.

And rightfully so.

If that is how quickly you turn on your friends and go public with your misgivings, why would they or anyone else want you anywhere near their locker room? Nobody wants that kind of bad energy in their building.

We’d ask what you’re thinking, but clearly you’ve lost all reason and common sense while flinging yourself into a self-destructive world of victimhood and self-pity.

In which everyone is the enemy. Everyone has it out for you. And everyone is to blame for your predicament.

Like your agent, who you fired last year when things began falling apart with the 49ers. But it was you, not your agent, that forced the 49ers’ hand and led them to void the remaining guaranteed money in your contract.

It was you who didn’t participate in rehab sessions for the knee injury you suffered in 2024. That was your decision to make, and your mistake to own. What did you think the 49ers would do?

Not that your agent is the only recipient of your misguided blame.

How about 49ers general manager John Lynch and head coach Kyle Shanahan, who you have publicly called out for your relationship with the 49ers turning sour over the last year.

The same coach and general manager who rewarded you with a 4-year, $120 million contract extension in 2024. Are we supposed to believe they just turned on a dime?

Make it make sense.

You keep claiming you’re a grown man, yet you never take any accountability. And then you feign anger and resentment when the 49ers refuse to reward your bad behavior by bending a knee and giving in to your whims.

All the while, blaming anyone and everyone for where things stand.

The truth is, your biggest adversary right now is the dude staring back at you in the mirror.

It’s you, Brandon. You are the problem.

Your pride has blinded you from that truth. Your ego has turned your ears deaf to that reality.

And as you seethe in your disappointment of not getting your way, you continue to lash out at your perceived enemies, as if they are responsible for the series of ill-advised decisions you made that cost you millions of dollars and quite possibly, your career.

The worst part of all?

There is still time to salvage all this. As much as you’ve screwed this up – you and you alone – you can still make it right. Or at least create a legitimate chance to.

It will require you to actually listen to people who truly care about you, maybe even get some personal help. It means you taking responsibility for what’s happened, but more importantly, taking positive steps to make it work.

Sit down with Lynch and Shanahan and convince them you are ready to move forward. Seek reinstatement. If it’s granted, report to training camp and show everyone the knee is good to go.

It’s your only chance.

There is still time.

But first, put down the phone, man.
