It looks like the Eagles will finally move on from Eagles star receiver A.J. Brown.
ESPN reports that Brown will “likely” be traded to the Patriots once the calendar turns to June 1, with the report pointing out that after that date, his salary becomes much easier to trade.
Both the Eagles and Patriots have been interested in completing a trade for Brown — but the star receiver’s cap hit goes from roughly $40 million to less than $20 million if traded after June 1.

It is unclear which package the Eagles would receive in return for the 28-year-old Brown, though it was previously believed they would get back a first-round draft pick.
Philadelphia views draft capital for the 2027 and 2028 NFL Drafts as “even more enticing” than this week’s draft.
It remains possible that other teams jump into the mix on a potential trade, although the report continues that once the Patriots and Eagles reconvene, it will “probably” culminate in a deal.
The Eagles had been mum on a trade publicly, with general manager Howie Roseman consistently telling reporters that “Brown is an Eagle” as a familiar response when asked.

Brown also stirred up rumors that he would be a Patriot when on a podcast with Julian Edelman and Rob Gronkowski, when he appeared next to the two New England legends just weeks after the Super Bowl.
“Just remember, we’re all Patriots,” Edelman said to Gronkowski and Brown on “Games with Names.”
“Are you going to be a Patriot?” Gronkowski asked Brown, while Edelman began to scream with excitement.
As Brown began to respond, an off-camera voice yelled something, and Brown laughed and said, “I’m trolling.”
Well, it appears that there is no more trolling, with the Eagles expected to trade their top receiver.
Brown has had at least 1,003 yards receiving in each of his four seasons in Philadelphia while winning a Super Bowl.
Though Brown, at different times, has appeared disgruntled, as his relationship with quarterback Jalen Hurts looks to have deteriorated over the past two seasons.
Brown was seen reading a book, “INNER EXCELLENCE” on the sideline as frustration began to come to a head during the 2025 NFL postseason.
The Eagles have begun to move on from Brown by signing a replacement, Marquise “Hollywood” Brown, to a contract this offseason.
