A.J. Brown will miss the Eagles’ Week 3 matchup against the Saints.
The star wide receiver is dealing with a hamstring injury that will take him out for a second straight week after sitting out Philadelphia’s loss to the Falcons on Monday.
After the game, Brown told ESPN that he expected to miss “a couple of weeks” with the injury, but that it shouldn’t impact him long-term.
His hamstring reportedly acted up last Friday in practice.
“Obviously, A.J. being down, he’s one of the best players in the NFL, so you’re going to miss him,” Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni said earlier this week.
The Eagles, who are 1-1 heading into Sunday’s action, will take on the Buccaneers in Week 4 before their bye week, potentially giving Brown two more full weeks to recover while only missing one additional game.
The Mississippi product has emerged as one of the top pass catchers in the NFL since being traded from the Titans to the Eagles before the 2022 season.
A three-time Pro Bowler, Brown, 27, has 199 receptions and 19 touchdowns through his first three seasons in Philadelphia.
Brown had a monster game during the Eagles’ season-opening win over the Packers in Brazil, catching five balls for 119 yards and a touchdown.
DeVonta Smith, who has seven receptions in each of the Eagles’ first two games, and Jahan Dotson are expected to pick up the slack in Philadelphia’s passing game in Brown’s absence.
