Afghan national from Operation Allies Welcome arrested, charged for threatening to bomb Texas city

An Afghan national was arrested after claiming he was building a bomb that was intended to target Fort Worth, Texas, in a video posted to TikTok this week.

Mohammad Dawood Alokozay was apprehended on Tuesday by the Department of Homeland Security after posting the video to his profile; he is being charged at the state level, Fox News reported.

Alokozay came to the US in the wake of the 2021 withdrawal from Afghanistan as part of the Biden administration’s Operation Allies Welcome, according to DHS.

Alokozay was arrested one day before the shooting in Washington, D.C. by the Texas Department of Public Safety and an FBI Joint Terrorism Task Force. TNS

He was made a lawful permanent US resident on Sept. 7, 2022, Fox News reported.

US Immigration and Customs Enforcement has lodged a detainer on Alokozay following his arrest, the outlet reported.

He was arrested a day before Rahmandullah Lakanwal, 29, also an Afghan national who came to the US as part of Operation Allies Welcome, shot two National Guard troops in Washington, DC, on Nov. 26.

Lakanwal fatally shot Sarah Beckstrom, 20, and critically injured Andrew Wolfe, 24, before being subdued by a heroic and unidentified National Guardsman who was armed only with a knife.

The suspect, who is recovering at a hospital from critical injuries, was a member of the Afghan Army in Kandahar where he supported US Special Forces in the region.
