Two-time Pro Bowl defensive tackle Jonathan Allen has reached an agreement with the Minnesota Vikings on a three-year, $60 million contract, agent Blake Baratz of Team IFA told ESPN’s Adam Schefter on Tuesday.
Allen was released by the Washington Commanders on Friday after the team failed to find a trade partner for him. He was entering the final year of his deal with a $15.5 million base salary and no more guaranteed money remaining.
Allen missed nine games in 2024 with a torn left pectoral muscle. That injury was initially said to be season-ending, but during surgery, doctors discovered the tear was not as severe as feared, allowing him to return.
He played in the final two regular-season games and three postseason games and finished with 3 sacks, 3 tackles for loss and 7 quarterback hits.
In eight seasons with Washington, he recorded 42 sacks in 108 starts. Before the 2024 season, Allen had been durable, missing a combined three games in the previous six years.
Allen, 30, made the Pro Bowl after the 2021 and 2022 seasons, when he combined for 16.5 sacks.
He was selected with the 17th pick in the 2017 draft out of Alabama.
