The Jets have hit a nadir in their season, and while playing on “Thursday Night Football,” one iconic NFL announcer was poking fun at the team’s struggles.

Gang Green had five losses in a row going into the home matchup with the Texans, and Al Michaels, noting the Jets’ uniform color — all-black — for this game, said that it seemed fitting for the team that’s in the basement of the AFC East.

“The Jets, in a moment of darkness, as they say, choose to wear black tonight on top of it all,” Michaels said on the Prime Video broadcast.

This came after Michaels made some blunt remarks in the lead-up to the game with analyst Kirk Herbstreit.

The two noted how the last time the Jets were on “TNF,” things were in a much better place, as New York steamrolled the Patriots and were over .500 in Week 3.

But since then, it’s been a disaster that’s included the firing of head coach Robert Saleh and a continued winless streak under interim coach Jeff Ulbrich.

“It’s Halloween night. If you’re a Jets fan, you have seen this horror movie before. 2-1, a promising start, now they’ve lose five in a row. All manners of losing. This is a team that Aaron Rodgers, in our meeting the other day, is still very optimistic [about]. He’s laying out a plan where he thinks they can run the table. And wind up with 11 wins — good luck. Optimism is one thing, reality is another.”

Herbstreit noted that this is a talented bunch — with Rodgers, Davante Adams, Breece Hall et all — but that tonight’s game was a “must-win.”

And this all came before Malachi Corley’s inexplicable dropping of the football before he reached the goal line, costing him his first NFL touchdown.

“The way they’ve lost these five games, in every manner. Now you got this. That’s something new,” Michaels said after that brutal play.

Michaels’ jokes aside, Gang Green, who were awful in the first half, had a strong second half en route to a season-saving 21-13 victory over the Texans.
