A Lake Tahoe ski resort has called it quits on winter early—shutting down days ahead of schedule as warm weather wiped out what little snow was left.

Homewood Mountain Resort closed for the season on March 17, cutting things short before its planned March 22 end date, according to SFGATE.

The already brief season barely made it three months after the resort opened late in late December, delayed by a sluggish start to winter snowfall.

By mid-March, rising temperatures made it difficult to keep runs open, the outlet reported.

The early closure adds to a rocky stretch for the West Shore resort, which didn’t operate at all the previous winter as debates swirled over its future.

At the center of the controversy were plans that could have turned Homewood into a private, membership-based mountain—sparking backlash from locals who pushed to keep it open to the public.

While those concerns have somewhat eased, uncertainty still lingers over what’s next for the small Tahoe resort.

“It has been a season of up and downs with major snowstorms and downpours, the warm temperatures and lack of precipitation in the forecast has forced us to adjust our closing date. Thank you to all who have celebrated this season with us,” Homewood posted to its Facebook.
