That’s one way to welcome your opponent on game day.
An Auburn cheerleader accidentally collided with a player on Oklahoma’s football team Saturday, when the Tigers hosted the Sooners in an afternoon clash at Jordan-Hare Stadium.
As the Sooners jogged onto the field, a cheerleader could be seen doing a series of flips in their direction. While some players quickly veered out of the way, Oklahoma defensive back Makari Vickers was in the athlete’s path, resulting in a wild pregame collision.
Both the cheerleader and Vickers appeared OK in the aftermath, with a handful of Sooners checking in on their teammate, according to footshare shared on X.
Much like every other viral video that has graced the internet, social media users didn’t hold back their commentary.
“Auburn threw everything they had at OU, including a ninja cheerleader,” a user on X posted.
“Auburn cheerleaders better blockers than the football players,” another user quipped.
One user posted, “We need that Auburn cheerleader at linebacker immediately.”
Despite the pregame smack by the Tigers, the Sooners got off to a 7-0 lead before Auburn surged ahead at halftime, 14-7.
Oklahoma ultimately sealed the victory with a 17-point fourth quarter, defeating Auburn 27-21.
The Sooners, ranked No. 21 in the country, were coming off a 25-15 loss to Tennessee the previous week.
Oklahoma (4-1) will host top-ranked Texas on Saturday, Oct. 12.
Auburn, which dropped to 2-3 following Saturday’s loss, will visit No. 2 Georgia next week.
The Bulldogs fell to No. 4 Alabama in a 41-34 thriller on Saturday night.
