A top Beverly Hills doctor has been accused of drugging an employee and then raping her while she was unconscious — allegedly part of a pattern where he lured women with the promise of high-paying jobs, according to cops.
Dr. Babak Hajhosseini, 42, was slapped with a slew of rape charges last week after a staffer came forward to allege that he had sexually assaulted her inside his home, the Los Angeles Police Department said Monday.
“Though he is charged with assaulting a single victim, investigators believe there are other victims who have yet to come forward,” the LAPD said.
The doctor used his prominence in the industry, where he was the founder of the Wound & Burn Centers of America as well as a visiting specialist at Catalina Island Health, cops said.
“Hajhosseini used job recruiting websites and offered high hourly wages to locate and entice potential victims,” the LAPD said.
“He would then invite the potential victims to work overtime after hours at his residence.”
One woman told cops that Hajhosseini pressured her to drink an alcoholic beverage at his home that rendered her unconscious.
Hajhosseini then allegedly raped and recorded her, police said.
The doctor was nabbed on Nov. 26 when the employee reported the allegations to cops.
He was later hit with a number of charges tied to the alleged assault, including rape by use of drugs and rape of an unconscious or asleep person.
Hajhosseini, who has already posted bail, denied the charges and accused cops of leveling “false and salacious accusations” against him.
“Dr Hajhosseini will try his case in court, not in the media. In the courtroom, cases are decided based on evidence– not baseless innuendo,” his attorneys said in a statement.
“There is extensive evidence proving that these allegations are false, which will be presented in court. And Dr Hajhosseini voluntarily took a polygraph exam, which he passed. The LAPD knows this, which raises troubling questions about the integrity of its press release.”
