Bill Belichick had no desire to address his awkward CBS interview from Sunday while stepping out in Manhattan on Monday night with his 24-year-old girlfriend, Jordon Hudson.
As the couple left a hotel, Belichick was asked by a reporter about the interview, during which Hudson interjected to shut down a question to the 73-year-old UNC football coach about how the couple met.
Belichick did not comment as he and Hudson entered a black SUV.
During the “CBS Sunday Morning” interview, when asked how the two met, Hudson, who was looming off to the side, said, “We’re not talking about this.”
Regarding the attention the couple has received, Belichick told CBS, “I’ve never been too worried about what everybody else thinks. I just try to do what I feel like is what’s best for me and what’s right.”
TMZ previously reported the lovebirds met on a flight from Boston to Florida in 2021.
Belichick, who stunned the football world by taking the UNC job in December after a year working several media jobs, has asked that Hudson — whom Pablo Torre reported is his “de facto agent” — be copied on all emails sent to him.
Belichick partook in the interview to promote his upcoming book, “The Art of Winning: Lessons from My Life in Football.”
Another awkward part of the interview happened when Belichick was asked why there was no mention in the book of Patriots owner Robert Kraft, with whom Belichick won six Super Bowls.
“It’s about my life lessons in football and it’s really more about the ones I experienced directly,” Belichick said.
When it was brought up that Kraft wasn’t even in the acknowledgements section, after a brief pause, Belichick said, “correct.”
The sides parted ways after the 2023 season following 24 years together. The decision was painted at the time as mutual, though Kraft has since described the split as a firing.
Asked if he thought he was treated with dignity and respect while being let go, Belichick said, “well, it was a mutual decision for us to part ways.”
Belichick was then told Kraft has said he fired the coach.
“It was a mutual decision,” Belichick said.
