A dimwit “farm boy” tourist was arrested for swiping a flamingo from a popular Las Vegas hotel and taking selfies with the poor bird while “choking” and maiming it in his room, according to police.
Mitchell Fairbarn, 33, of Ontario, Canada got tossed in a cage himself after allegedly snatching Peachy from an enclosure at the Flamingo hotel on the city’s iconic, casino-dotted strip Tuesday, cops told the Las Vegas Review Journal.
The bird-napping flew into high gear at around 5 a.m. when Fairbarn was allegedly caught on camera grabbing the bright pink Chilean flamingo by the neck, laughing and declaring, “I’m taking it home!”, according to police.
The feather-ruffling robber then dragged the three-foot bird into an elevator and took it up to his room on the 14th floor, according to cops, who found footage of the wild theft on Fairbarn’s phone.
As he chased and pinned down the bird, he clipped its wing then tried to “pop it” back into place — causing the critter to need stitches, according to police.
“He stated he knows that ‘popping’ the wing back into its place [is] a common practice for birds, such as ducks. He has knowledge of his because he is a farm boy,” cops said in a police report.
Footage shows Fairbarn and an accomplice chasing Peachy through a hallway of the hotel then choking it as they pose for photos with the bird.

Cops later found a “large bloody feather” in the hotel room.
Fairbarn was charged with torturing, maiming or killing an animal and his bail was set at $12,000.
Peachy was taken to a veterinarian and officials are hopeful the bird will make a “full recovery,” according to Caesars Entertainment Corp, which owns the hotel.
Two other flamingos in the enclosure were also injured during the bizzare incident, according to police.
“Our beloved birds, including Peachy, who was cruelly taken from the habitat, are currently in the care of dedicated veterinarians and our extraordinary Flamingo animal care team,” Caesars Entertainment Corp. said in a statement.“We are hopeful they will make a full recovery.”
